7 Reasons You’re Not Successful
Behind every unsuccessful person is something keeping them from the success they desire.
You’re not successful if you’re not where you ideally see yourself in life.
Success isn’t based on your past, financial situation, current circumstances, or what family you were born into.
It’s based solely on the way you think, your daily habits, and the action you’re taking (or not taking).
Here are seven reasons you’re not successful, and how you can change that.

You’re Comfortable

Nobody likes being uncomfortable.
It’s probably one of the key reasons why you’re not successful.
Nothing good ever comes from staying in your comfort zone.
It’s human nature to want to be comfortable, to hate being uncomfortable.
The first thing I do when I get home for the day is put on my sweatpants.
Why?
Because they’re comfortable.
I hate talking on the phone, especially when I need to call someone I don’t know.
Why?
Because it’s uncomfortable.
But if you ever want to break out of the rut you’re in, you have to start challenging yourself to do things outside your comfort zone.
You have to force yourself to do the things that are uncomfortable in order to grow.
What uncomfortable task are you holding out on that is keeping you from excelling?

You’ve Settled for Mediocrity
If you’re in a place in life where you’re just going through the motions and always looking forward to the weekend, you’ve settled.
It’s another one of the key reasons why you’re not successful.
If you’re not excited about what you’re doing in life on a daily basis, you’re just wasting time (and your life). Money might be the driving force as to why you remain where you are, but it’s not an excuse to be held back from pursuing something more.
Carve out a little time each day (preferably in the morning) for quiet time where you can journal your thoughts and discover what you’re passionate about and what you’d truly love to do with your life.
Life is too short to go through your days just existing, when you can become intentional about the way you lead your life.

TV is Your Lifeline
The average American watches over five hours of television a day.
That’s insane!
Admittedly, I’m not a TV person at all. I have my vices, but television isn’t one of them. There are very few television shows I’m actually into.
What productive activity could you be doing during those five hours? During even one of those five hours?
I challenge you to reduce your daily television time by one hour, and use that time to do something intentional. Clean a room, read a book, go for a walk.
TV is a colossal waste of time. You’re watching other people live their lives instead of living your own.
I’m not suggesting you ditch your favorite programs. Just scale back on your TV time.

You Make Excuses
“Excuses are mainly a means of placing the blame of an internal problem on an external condition.” ~Adam Sicinski
There is this funny quote we used to say growing up:
“Excuses are like butts. Everyone has them and they all stink.”
It might sound juvenile and immature, but it’s true.
You have to stop making excuses.
If you truly want something bad enough, nothing in this world will stop you from achieving it. Your mind will be so dead set on achieving this thing, that no amount of external roadblocks will stop you.
A lot of people use their financial struggles as the reason why they “can’t” excel in life. And yet, that didn’t stop Oprah Winfrey (and countless others) from rising above her poverty past to become one of the richest people in the world.
It’s about your mindset and having the discipline to put in the hard work and not let any obstacle stop you.
Excuses = You want something, but you don’t want it bad enough.

You’re Stuck in the Past with the Wrong Mindset
Don’t look back-you’re not going that way.
It’s fun to recall old memories with pictures and other mementos. Just make sure you’re not living in those memories. You cannot go back to that time in your life, so don’t get yourself carried away wishing you could. It’s a waste of time.
If you’re constantly dwelling on the past and how good things were then, how will you make the most of the present? You need to be intentional in the present to create your future.
To create a future you’ll anticipate and look forward to that can be just as great as your past.
On the other hand, you may feel trapped by the past. Or, you may think that because you tried to do xyz in the past and it didn’t work out then, it isn’t going to work out now.
One good example of this is trying to lose weight or making exercise a habit. You may believe it’s too hard or impossible, and you failed at it in the past so why try now?
The truth is, the reason you failed at it in the past is because you gave up, plain and simple. You can’t fail at anything unless you quit!
The other reason you failed is due to your mindset. Without the right mindset, you’re not going to succeed. Your mindset has to be in alignment with the results you want before you see those results.
Another good example of being stuck in the past is with failed relationships.
If you have a scarcity mindset about relationships based on the ones from your past, you’re going to create more of that in your future relationships.
I know this from experience. 😉
It took a lot of work on my part to have a clean mindset regarding relationships and it was only then I met my husband.

You’re Not Learning

Learning isn’t a season of life, but a way of life.
Personal development is specifically tied to success. One habit of successful people is that they crave knowledge and are consistently learning.
They see every day as an opportunity to learn.
The best ways you can learn are to read personal development books and listen to podcast teachings.
Some people don’t like to read and they use that as an excuse as to why they “can’t” read personal development books.
To that I say, review reason #4 in this article!
If you want to succeed, you have to read (or at least listen to audio books and podcasts!)
By saying you’re not into personal development, you’re telling me that you’re not ready to take your life to the next level.
You’ll continue to stay right where you are.

You Don’t Believe in Yourself

What you believe directly impacts what you’ll receive.
You have to believe in yourself.
If you believe with your whole heart you can and will do something, you will.
When you doubt yourself and make excuses as to why you can’t, you won’t.
Train your brain to only have positive thoughts about yourself and what you’re going to do. To only speak positive things over yourself.
